1. Why can VIZNET not be run from ANY computers in our domain?
Solution: Please ensure that the ‘Act as part of the operating system’ policy setting is enabled on all machines that need to install VIZNET. Also ensure that the domain controller is NOT enforcing the domain-wide disabling of this policy for all machines in the domain, which will make it impossible for VIZNET to run. 2. How do I open (unblock) Microsoft Windows Firewall (Windows XP) for the VIP Distribution Service? Solution: Do the following: 1.) Open the ‘Microsoft Windows Firewall’ application. 2.) Select its ‘Exceptions’ tab. 3.) Select the ‘Add Port…’ button. 4.) In the “Add a Port” dialog, in the ‘Name’ edit box, specify ‘VIP Distributor service’ specify ‘9010’ as the required ‘Port number’. Also ensure that the ‘TCP’ selection is selected and Click OK. 3. Why is the “save file” dialog displayed instead of the required HTML page, when connecting to http://(machinename)/vip in order to test the VIP webservice or distribution webservice? Solution: This occurs because ASP.NET must still be registered on the IIS Server computer. Please perform the following procedure to do this: 1.) Locate the ‘Aspnet_regiis.exe’ file, this file will located in the following folder on the IIS computer: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\(framework version) e.g. C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322. 2.) Run this file to register ASP.NET and then reboot this computer. The correct page should now be displayed when connecting to http://(machinename)/vip. 4. Why does my VIP Operator and/or Designer not work? Solution: Ensure that if your operating system supports User Account Control (UAC) that this setting is DISABLED because it prevents VIZNET from running successfully. Note: This UAC is provided on Microsoft operating systems from VISTA onwards. You can disable this setting, as follows, on Vista: 1. Click on the Start menu, "Control Panel" and double click "User Accounts". 2. Click "Turn User Account Control on or off" and click Continue. 3. Uncheck (clear) the checkbox and click the OK button. 4. Click the "Restart Now" button to restart your computer. Run your VIP Operator and/or Designer, AFTER restarting your computer. |
